Info: Our dream of owning a holiday home in Florida started back in 1988 when we first visited the sunshine state. We finally realised our dream in November 2002 when we turned the key in the door of our brand new villa on Southern Dunes Golf Course. We then went on to buy our second property on the prestigious resort of Reunion and a third in Watersong.
Choosing the location of our home, picking the floor plan, deciding on the furniture and obtaining a mortgage had all been relatively simple during a 5 day inspection visit in February of 2002. What hadn't been so easy was being 4,000 miles away with no one on hand locally to answer all those niggling questions like “Will I have to pay income and council tax?”, “How long can I stay?”, “How do I get my deposit into US Dollars at the best rate?”, “How much will the utility bills be?”, “How will it all come together once the villa is completed?” are just a few. After many calls to Florida and several sleepless nights, everything worked out great…….but it did set us thinking - How much easier it could have all been!!
We both worked full time but were at the stage in life where we wanted to retire and spend more time together, but not put our feet up completely. Following our own experience of purchasing a property abroad we decided to become Florida Real Estate Consultants here in the UK, based near Coventry in the Midlands. Using the knowledge we have gained along with our Financial Services and Sales backgrounds, working in conjunction with a team of Realtors in Florida, we now provide advice and support to anyone considering a Florida investment.
